Goresbrook v Gidea Park & Romford CC U13 on Sun 08 May 2005 at 9.30am
Gidea Park & Romford CC Lost 33 runs
Disappointing bowling performance from GP & R CC with nearly half the oppositions runs coming in wides or no balls. Having kept Goresbrook reasonably quiet for most of the game, 25 runs came in the last three overs as the opposition batsmen finally cut loose and some of the GP & R players allowed there concentration to wane in the cold wind. Andrew Jones headed the wicket takers with two victims, supported by tidy spells from David Brett, Ali Ahmed and Chris McKie. In reply however, GP&R never got going and wickets fell steadily to some very tidy and sharp Goresbrook bowling. Only Adam McKie offered any resistance with a fine 13, and a quickfire 9 from Michael Pegram at the end , but it was never enough to post any sort of challenge to Goresbrooks total of 100. GP & R fell 30 runs short of the requirement largely due to the superior Goresbrook bowling with Gapes , Aresti and Bulley all chipping in with 2 wickets apiece. Nevertheless there was some early season promise and enthusiasm from the team on a bright but chilly morning.
