Gidea Park & Romford CC Sunday 1st X1 v AUSTRALIA HOUSE on Sun 05 Jun 2005 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 63 runs
Gallows staged its own version of the Ashes with a strong GP&R side, including our own 2 Aussies, overcoming Australia House in an entertaining fixture. A disciplined batting display saw Park to 218 for 9 from our 40 overs, with useful contributions from all the batsmen. Russ Collard top scored but was stumped three short of his half century attempting to dispatch the slow bowling of Condon into the A12.
In reply, the Shenfield duo of Webber and Weaver made steady progress but could not keep up with the required run rate against some tight Park bowling, despite some aggressive shot making by Weaver. With 150 still required at the halfway point, wickets began to fall, allowing the (very!) occasional bowling of Luke Baker to be introduced. After three entertaining overs, in which he took 2 wickets with perhaps both the best and worst deliveries of the innings, Luke suffered the 'yips' and had to be withdrawn from the attack, leaving James Redwood to mop up the last two wickets in the 38th over, concluding a comfortable victory for GP&R.
