UPMINSTER v Gidea Park & Romford CC Saturday 4th X1 on Sat 13 Aug 2005 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 6 wickets
A pleasing result for Gidea Park despite something of an availablility crisis in the teams above. Having won the toss and decided to field, Park started superbly with Louis Stuckey picking up the first wicket thanks to a catch a gully by his father Dave who took 2 goes at holding it. Dave Sinclair bowled consistently and had a strong appeal for caught behind turned down at the end. In between, Danny Cox and Durvinder Bhogal each picked up three wickets as Upminster were dismissed for 141. For the home side, former Gidea Park player Duncan Bray played well for 38 and skipper Chris Cully hit the ball hard on the way to 35 before being stumped off Cox's quicker ball.
The park response started poorly with Webber falling second ball but Peter Collier and Peter Thain steadied things well, and some crisps strikes from the latter got the scoreboard rolling. Collier continued onto 29 before edging behind but Danny Cox saw Park home with an unbeaten 53 whilst Dave Stuckey's 16 was a handy input.
