Gidea Park & Romford CC Saturday 1st X1 v ILFORD on Sat 16 Jul 2005 at 11.30am
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won won by 5 wickets

Ilford were asked to bat first and through Chopra and Diwan got off to a steady start. With a life less wicket and a glass like outfield any margin for error in line or length was punished. Rhett Fielke having to come out the attack mid way through his 8th over with a strained hamstring and Russ Collard came on and was immediately punished for 4. With the ball softening quickly on a hard wicket Waheed Khan was replaced by Andy Churchill. With the pace taken away Park were able to start to take control and with the score on 50 Collard bowled Chopra with one that kept a bit low for 26. Diwan next went next over for 26 lbw to Collard with the score on 53 playing around a straight one. With the bowling now limiting scoring opportunities Collard and Churchill started to take the upper hand and with Chopra Diwan and shortly Kandola all back in the pavillion. Park had to keep their discipline and their fielding stepped up a notch also with Chris Collier taking a fine catch at mid wicket to send back Kandola for 5 off Collard. Next over saw Pathan caught by Collier again at mid wicket to give Collard his 4th wicket for 10 runs from 5 overs. Dar put up some resistance but was then brilliantly stumped by Swainland off Collard for 9 to leave Ilford struggling on 69-5. A Chopra came and went first ball lbw to Collard and then Roy was bowled first ball by Collard to give him a hatrick and figures of 7-12 from 8 overs and the total on 69-7. Malik and A. Malik made an effort to scartch a total as they thwarted Collards efforts for all 10. Park finally dismissed Ilford for 118 when Collier ran out Malik for 34. Collard finishing with 15.3 overs 5 maidens 38 runs 9 wickets.
Barry Hyam and Chris Collier got Park away to a fine start, Hyam playing superbly on a wicket that was becoming incresingly difficult to score freely. Chris Collier went shortly after on 65 for 18 being caught again off Elahi who with Pathan was really taking a grip on the game. Rhett Fileke struck a couple of well needed 4 to ease a little of the tension before being lbw for 9 agian off Elahi, 93-5. Jack Kliber showed great maturity staving off good bowling and gradually Park moved towards victory. Collard and Kliber seeing Park to their total off 119 in the 40th over.
