Gidea Park & Romford CC U16 v Wickford on Mon 02 May 2005 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 9 wickets
A fantastic start to this years Matchplay campaign was initiated by Jack Kliber winning the toss and putting the opposition in to bat. Great tight bowling from James Salisbury went unrewarded as he bowled 5 overs for just 7 runs. Mark D'cruz opening from the other end kept the ball up to the bat and in 6 overs dismissed the top four Wickford batsman aided by some magnificent close catching by Luike Carana and Ryan Lugg. The second change bowlers kept the pressure on with Sam Bragg( 4 overs) and Steven Gallager (6 overs) giving away just 5 runs each. Stephen was bowling great little away swingers and got two well deserved wickets. Luke Neal and Tom Austin kept the pressure on before Luke Carana wrappped up the tail with two wickets. Wickford were finally bowled out for 63 in 33.2 overs
Park knocked off the runs in just 13 overs which was excellent on such a slow outfield. Ryan Lugg hit some nice shots in his 17 which brought skipper JacK Kilber to the wicket who looked in great form(he had just hit 100 on Saturday) but the star of the show was opener Matt Tarr who was undefeated on 37. Some of the shots Matt played where of magnificent and none better than the four through mid-wicket to clinch the game.
The side was well skipperd by Jack and I was thrilled with the skill and committment in the field by all the players however Sam Bragg was excellent.
Well done Lads.... we can look forward to our next gane Wanstead game with confidence.
